Battery heated gloves are ideal for motorcyclists, skiers, fishermen, and snowmobilers, etc. The gloves are made out of different types of materials and generally come with a soft and warm insulation that also pads the gloves. Some models are waterproof and/or windproof. Most of them are also adjustable and come with a small kobalt abbau-ion battery in each glove that heats them up.
Nonetheless, the Volt is not something in GM's immediate plans. The idea for the Volt would require that a cost efficient 400-lb lithium-ion battery be found. lithium facts-ion batteries of this size are not currently available. Further advances in battery technology would be required to allow GM to consider making the Volt a production car. These are enhancements that could occur in as little as a year, or as many as 20 years. GM has stated that they feel the technology is almost there, yet a vehicle like this is probably about a decade away.
ONickel Metal Hydride (NiMh) - Popular battery about 1-2 years ago. They are lighter than Nickel Cadmium batteries, but heavier than Lithium batteries. These should be cycled once in a while for optimum performance.

The incredible Fisher Karma can't miss from my list. This car includes a gas engine used to recharge the battery as well as an electric motor for that powertrain. The Karma was created by Henrik Fisher and boasts a 300 mile range. It may turn from zero to 60 mph in less than 6 seconds and may reach a maximum speed of 125 mph. The very first 50 miles are impelled by using a fully-charged battery and after that the gasoline engine turns on a generator which charges the lithium-ion battery. Interested? Then you should know that its cost goes up to $110,000.
For jobs where the batteries are required to be light weight as well as being reusable, then lithium batteries are ideal. But if a battery is needed to be very reliable or to remain unused for a long time then they might not be the right batteries for it.
